Marcus Held works as a media artist and filmmaker at the intersection of art, ecology, and science. After studying media art in Leipzig, he devoted himself to exploring the complex relationships between nature and culture and the interconnections between human and non-human actors in various media formats.
Parallel to his artistic practice, he works as a field biologist in nature conservation projects, with a
special focus on entomology and ornithology.
He is living and working Leipzig.

Marcus Held arbeitet als Medienkünstler und Filmemacher an der Schnittstelle von Kunst, Ökologie und Wissenschaft. Nach seinem Studium der Medienkunst in Leipzig widmet er sich in unterschiedlichen medialen Formaten den komplexen Beziehungen zwischen Natur und Kultur sowie den Verflechtungen von menschlichen und nicht-menschlichen Akteuren. Parallel zu seiner künstlerischen Praxis ist er als Feldbiologe in Naturschutzprojekten tätig, mit einem besonderen Fokus auf Entomologie und Ornithologie.
Er lebt und arbeitet in Leipzig.
